Commodities that contributed considerably to deflation during July 2017 included garlic, intercity transport, oranges, red pepper, cement, green chili, squid, household fuel, chicken meat and sugar. Based on the calculation of Consumer Price Index (CPI) in July 2017, deflation in Metro City was caused by a decrease in index in the transportation, communication and financial services group which experienced deflation of 0.78 percent; Foodstuffs experiencing deflation of 0.38 percent and housing, water, gas and fuel categories experiencing deflation of 0.12 percent.
